Five defendants were in the Henry County Courthouse yesterday, to begin preliminary hearings in the case of murdered Henry County man, C. J. Hatfield.
The five defendants, James Bailey, Sarah Dresher, Mark Hammond, James Stuckey and Scott Mathis, have all been charged with capitol murder.
Hatfield was found months ago along County Road 104 in Henry County with gun shot wounds to his head and throat.
The state brough forth three witnesses to testify. Authorities believe the shooting was drug related.
All five defendants were known to associate with each other and knew the victim. This is the greatest number of individuals charged in a single murder case in Wiregrass history.
