SANITATION FEE INCREASE

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Several days ago we told you that Houston County Commissioners voted to raise sanitation fees in the county from $9.60 to $12.00. County Commissioners did this despite the Administrators Report, which stated fees needed to be raised to thirteen dollars just to cover the department`s shortfall. Chairman Mark Culver said if the counties late fees were raised from three to five dollars, the shortfall may be covered. But Houston County Commissioners may not be ready to dump any more sanitation fees on residents, which surprised Chairman Culver. Commissioners met informally after the meeting and indicated that the sanitation late fee will increase, and will probably be approved at the next Houston County Commission meeting.
