ALABAMA GENERAL FUND UPDATE

The Alabama House General Fund Budget Committee has begun debating a spending plan that may end up creating a deficit. Giving money to General Fund agencies at this year`s level would creat a 150-million to 200-million dollar deficit during the next fiscal year. Governor Bob Riley says his education and General Fund spending plans are balanced but, there`s a debate about the governor`s proposal to finance some traditionally General Fund Programs, with education budget dollars.
