NEW BROCKTON RESIDENTS UPSET ABOUT 84 BYPASS

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Residents in New Brockton say shutting down a major highway through their town could spell financial doom for a community already on hard times. A new 84 bypass being built could mean that the old highway that goes through town will be closed...that issue prompted a Town Hall meeting yesterday afternoon. Senator Jimmy Holley and Representative Terry Spicer were there to address concerns. Citizens of New Brockton feel that if old Highway 84 closes, so will the town. New Brockton is already financially troubled. In fact, the town passed an unpopular sales tax just last year to alleviate financial woes.
