Yesterday at the Dothan City Commission meeting, one of the busiest roadways in the city of Dothan was discussed.
Findings from a new study of the Ross Clark Circle that has just been completed by Skipper Consulting, to see if the circle should be a 7-lane road with no divider, or 6 lanes with a median.
City Traffic Engineer Charles Metzger, spoke before the commission and said the consulting firm found that a 7-lane system with no divider would have a much higher accident rate than a 6-lane system.
Metzger said the Alabama Department of Transportation would look into the firms recommendations.
In other commission meeting news, the Dothan Fire Department can now replace some equipment that has outlived its usefulness.
On a motion passed by the commission, the Dothan Fire Department got approval to commit to a 30/70 matching grant to replace defibrillators and other emergency medical equipment that is now obsolete.
The total cost of the new equipment is just over $318,000. The city`s portion is over $95,000.
