A Bill is rapidly gaining support in the state senate...a Bill that would allow public schools to display documents with religious references. It`s called the "Historic Document Act", and it is sponsored by Republican Senator Curt Lee of Jasper. If passed, it would allow schools across the state to display several historic documents, including The Ten Commandments. Tim Pitchford, Houston County School Superintendent, is pledging his full support of the measure. The Bill would also call for the display of the Magna Carta, Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights. Pitchford says the only one drawback to the Bill, is that it leaves the door open for other documents to be considered historical.
