Updated: January 7, 2009
Help is on the way for low income elderly people, and women with children and infants. The Alabama Farmers Federation reports that Washington has given the State Farmers Market Authority one-million-300-thousand dollars to provide them with food assistance. The Grant will subsidize food distribution from Alabama farms in season. The supplemental food program for seniors is operational in all 67 counties. The program for low income women will now be expanded into 16 counties.
