Did you feel any different yesterday than all other Mondays? Any more "down in the dumps" than usual?
If so, then you might not have been the only one...according to a CNN poll, yesterday was considered to be the most depressing day of the year.
Experts say there`s a variety of reasons behind that theory. According to Chris Strunk, a psychiatrist, it is a bad time...usually holiday buildup which includes, shopping, dinner and time spent with the family, and any other special traditions you associate with the season...with the holidays over, there is usually a let down and depression. Another reason, winter days. Dr. Strunk says the best thing to do to get out of the "funk", is to kick old habits, stick to your new years resolution and stay active...keep ourselves busy...all day.
And, if those misty blues run deeper than situation depression, psychiatrists suggest you talk to a trained professional, or if you are spiritual, studies show that prayer or worship also decreases anxiety and depression.
