"FLYING J " TRUCK STOP UPDATE

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
WDHN News has been following a story for several weeks concerning the "Flying J" Truck Stop trying to move into the Cloverdale district near the circle and Hodgesville Road. Many residents are upset about the idea and held a meeting last Monday night. Public officials also attended and talked about a variety of issues like safety and drainage. Another hot button was how to pay for legal services. Commissioner Don Clemmons said he would be the first to give money for legal defense. One possibility...they say if residents are paying city taxes and if issues arise related to the commission, they could use their legal staff to address those matters. Mayor Chester Sowell says, "taxpayers pay our legal fees anyway." Another meeting about the "Flying J" could happen as soon as January. News 18 will let you know the details.
