WIREGRASS SOLDIER DISCIPLINED FOR DISOBEYING ORDERS IN IRAQ

Updated: January 7, 2009
A wiregrass soldier who disobeyed orders in Iraq will not face court martial. In October we reported that an 18 member platoon refused to go on a mission in Iraq, saying they were under-equipped. That group included Amber McClenny of Dothan. The soldiers were detained and threatened with a possible court martial, but we have now learned that will not be their fate. The military says McClenney and her fellow soldiers will face "non-judicial punishment", which could include the loss of a month`s pay, extra duties and a demotion. The commander of the company involved was relieved of her duties, while the remainder of th platoon returned to duty in November.
