AMENDMENT TWO RECOUNT

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Here in Houston County, election officials are finally through with their recount of votes in the statewide Amendment Two initiative, and they say the votes stand the same. Probate Judge Luke Cooley tells us the fate of Amendment Two lies in the hands of Alabama voters beyond the Wiregrass, and all we can do is wait. Amendment Two was written to remove racist language in the Alabama State`s Constitution, which was written in 1901. After the recount, the initiative still fails in Houston County with 15 more yes votes and 31 more no votes. Ballots are still being counted statewide.
