THANKSGIVING TRAVEL

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
While many here in the Wiregrass are busy this week putting the finishing touches on their Thanksgiving table, others are busy getting ready to hit the road for the holiday. Thanksgiving travel is expected to see a sharp increase this year. AAA Alabama is predicting that an estimated 37-million Americans will travel more than 50 miles from home over the holiday...82 percent of them by automobile. The company attributes the rise to safety measures implemented after the September 11th attacks. Here in Alabama, officials estimate that some 17 people will die in accidents over the extended holiday travel period.
