The clock is ticking until Dothan Police Chief John White officially retires as Chief. He plans to step down on Christmas Day. With that deadline looming, the city is working overtime to find a replacement for Chief White. Dothan City Manager Mike West is conducting a nationwide search, and so far thirty-one people have applied for the position. Local applicants are William Land, who is a former employee with the Houston County Sherriff`s Department; Jim Smith, the current police chief of Cottonwood, and a former Dothan Police Captain, along with Stephen Mathis, former police chief of Abbeville. The deadline to apply is November 30th.
