Updated: January 7, 2009
Something new to look forward to at one of the city`s busiest intersections...as of right now, there isn`t much to "Justice Park" at the corner fo Oates and Main Street, but yesterday, city officials held a groundbreaking for the park. They hope to have it completed by April 23rd of next year for Spirit of Service Day. It`s a partnership between the city of Dothan and Cochran, Cherry and Givens law firm, who leased the land to the city for 20 years at a mere dollar a year. Sprinkled throughout the park will be sayings that the American Justice System is based on. Pat Thomas, Dothan City Commissioner, said, "there will be a fountain in the middle, seating area, walls, and a very nice green space". Juctice Park is a spirit of service project...last year over 70 thousand people participated in spirit of service projects, and they expect the park to be a banner project for the spirit of service for the upcoming year.
