Today is Veterans Day all across the nation, and yesterday Troy University honored those who wear our nation`s uniform. The campus hosted a Veteran`s Day program yesterday, where they recognized faculty, staff, and students that served in the military as well as all veterans. Featured speakers included retired Lieutenant Commander Burton Wright and Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran, U. S. Army Sergeant Brian Heusterberg, who is currently stationed at Ft. Rucker. Also, in honor of today`s holiday, Governor Bob Riley proclaimed yesterday as "Honor our Military Day", encouraging employers throughout the state to allow their workers who served, or are presently serving in the military to wear their military uniforms. The Governor is also encouraging Alabamians that if they see someone in uniform, to thank them for "helping to make America the greatest country on the face of the earth". Governor Riley will be in Huntsville today to take part in a Veteran`s Day ceremony at the State Veteran`s Home. WDHN would like to thank all veterans, active and inactive, who have served or is serving our country.
