An accident in front of Dairy Fresh on Hwy. 84 near Cowarts sent three people to the hospital, and from there two of them landed behind bars. It all happened when a 93` Lumina crashed into a 2000 49-hundred International truck...a source at the scene said beer bottles were spotted inside the Chevy Lumina. The driver of that car, 21 year old James Edward, was taken to the hospital and then arrested for D. U. I. His passenger, Bryan Carter, was also arrested for assaulting a police officer. The driver of the truck was also taken to the hospital. State troopers say they are seeing a sharp rise in "fatal" wrecks across Alabama. They say 12 people died on state highways in the first three days of November alone....just Monday, two people died in an accident near Malvern. Locally, police told News 18, they`ve seen a dramatic increase in wrecks over the last few days because of congestion from the Peanut Festival...which has led to a lot of tailgating and other forms of reckless driving.
