breaking news
A local woman was assaulted and robbed yesterday right in the middle of the day on Fortner Street.
Brenda Sands told News 18 that she pulled into a parking lot on Fortner Street. A car pulled up beside her and a passenger got out of the car and commented that it was a beautiful day, and she said yes...he then grabbed her by the shoulders, put his foot behind her knee and threw her to the ground. The man grabbed her purse, jumped in the car, driving off. She started screaming and started running after him to try and get the car tag number. Sharla Fletcher, an employee of Wiregrass Video Games heard Brenda`s cry for help, and began the chase also. She said the car was a gold color, looked like an Oldsmobile or Impala, with a tag number that started with 38-DY.
Brenda said the attack happened so fast she had no time to react, a scary thought for both customers and employees in this strip.
