The race is now tighter than ever, and after last night, the candidates are in the final stretch with only three weeks to go before the election.
With that in mind, the City Clerk`s office is making sure deployed Alabama soldiers will be able to cast their vote. Ballots have already been sent overseas to Alabama soldiers.
Officials now say that anyone here at home who needs to vote absentee, must beat the deadline. That deadline is October 28th...applications must be turned into the City Clerk`s office by 4:30PM that afternoon.
Lynn Kelly, Absentee Election Manager says, "It is very important...there`s an old saying, don`t gripe if you don`t vote...and it`s important for those elderly who cannot go to the polls...my mother can`t stand in line at polls so she has to vote absentee..this allows those people to stay active in the process."
If you need information on absentee ballots, call the City Clerk`s office at 677-4801, or go to their office on the 4th floor of the County Courthouse, Room 405. Officials say you can get an application and go ahead and cast your vote ahead of time.
