Updated: January 7, 2009
Congressman Terry Everett was in Dothan yesterday, speaking to members of the Kiwanis Club. Everett spoke about the current war on terrorism, and also about Ft. Rucker in the wake of the upcoming base realignment. He spoke optimistically about the situation, saying he doesn`t expect much to happen regarding Ft. Rucker. He said that in the last 11 years, 155 million dollars has been spent at Ft. Rucker. Legislation is now pending to replace 2500 houses, and build a new hangar. Everitt also says with the 700-plus acres of infrastructure, he expects to see more additions at the post. Right now Everitt is spending his time visiting different cities around his District...he`s up for re-election, and is hoping to keep his job.
