CROP DAMAGE FROM IVAN

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Although Hurricane Ivan is long gone, and most of Dothan is already cleaned up, area farmers are still dealing with the severe damage left behind. Sammy Williams, one of the local farmers told WDHN that as a farmer he is always concerned when Hurricane season blows around, but this year the timing of it hit his cotton crops the hardest. This year we had Ivan, Frances and Jeanne, and those storms back to back, set farmers back in cultivating healthy harvests. Most say it put them three to four weeks behind. The small business loans will help a lot of people, but like many small businesses and farmers, FEMA won`t help because they just didn`t lose enough.
