Updated: January 7, 2009
Dothan Fire Officials have some busy days ahead of them. Aside from their usual work, they will be promoting next week as Fire Prevention Week, an annual event that raises awareness about the hazards fire can bring. This year, the Dothan Fire Department is teaming up with local sponsors Unicel and Walmart. Unicel will be giving away free phones that will enable those without phone service to dial 911. The Fire Department is also teaming up with "Meals on Wheels" to provide hot meals and an assestment of fire hazards in homes of the elderly, and the Department will be giving away free smoke detectors. For that, you can call 615-4526. Fire Prevention Week begins Monday, Oct. 3rd, but you are encouraged to call the Central Fire Station at 615-3500 if you have any questions.
