HEADLAND DRUG BUST

Updated: January 7, 2009
When Hurricane Ivan blew through town a week ago, it brought not only destruction, but also an increase in drug traffic. Because of the detour from I-10 which is under repair, the re-routing of traffic that has come through the Wiregrass has not been all good traffic. Headland police said with the increased activity and Cottonwood`s recent drug bust, officers have been on alert. Headland officers did a routine traffic stop, and at first they thought it was a DUI...they dedected a strong odor, but with suspicious behavior along with the strong odor, prompted a search of the vehicle where they found five gallon sized ziplock bags containing marijuana. That find landed Tony Long of Marianna, Florida in Henry County Jail. His first appearance was Wednesday, where bond was set at 25-thousand dollars.
