As more and more progress is made in the Hurricane Ivan recovery efforts, the State Department of Human Resources is also stepping up it`s efforts to help out storm victims.
This month, they are replacing the September Food Stamp benefits to 42-thousand homes in the 12 counties that were hardest hit by the storm. The extra stamps will replace food that was lost in power outages caused by the hurricane.
Replacement benefits are being provided only to food stamp families who received their regular September benefits on or before September 15th. Local officials say the benefits have added up to about eight million dollars.
The replacement benefits should be available in the following counties:
Baldwin, Butler, Coffee, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw, Escambia, Geneva, Mobile, Monroe and Washington.
