breaking news
Labor Day weekend is now only days away, and just in time for the long holiday, authorities all across the southeast are cracking down on drunk driving...including here in Dothan.
"Hands Across the Border", a coalition effort between states in our region, targets impaired drivers every Labor Day weekend.
Law enforcement from dozens of counties, and several states joined together for the 13th annual "Hands Across the Border", to ask the public to help them do one thing....save lives.
"Hands Across the Border" also teams up with private agencies like "Mothers Against Drunk Drivers". Alabama authorities are also promoting the "You Drink-You-Drive-You Lose" campaign.
Authorities say that there were at least three alcohol related deaths last Labor Day, and that is three too many.
Police from all agencies say the only reason for issuing citations, is to save lives!
