WILL THERE BE A FARM CENTER FACELIFT?

Houston County Commissioners have been wanting to give the old Houston County Farm Center a face lift for over three years now. Now they know just how much expanding that facility would cost. The commission looked at estimates and plans from a number of architects early yesterday. The alternatives range from doing work on the existing building to doubling it in size. County leaders want to see the work done, but they are concerned about the price tag attached. Commission Chairman Mark Culver says the expanded Fram Center would accommodate some nine-thousand people. Currently, it can accomodate about five-thousand. Right now, though, the new Peanut Festival Fairgrounds is having a privately funded auditorium built, which some say would serve the same needs for the community.
