FOUR RESIGN FROM HOUSTON COUNTY JAIL

Updated: January 7, 2009
Four officers at the Houston County Jail have resigned amid allegations of misconduct, and the future of another four officers is yet to be determined. It all started as a result of an investigation by the County Sherriff`s Department, involving allegations of sexual misconduct between the corrections officers and female inmates. That investigation started six weeks ago when the family of a female inmate contacted the County Jail Administration, and reported the improper sexual behavior. The Sherrif`s Department looked into and took care of the situation, but during the process, Sherriff Glover tells us they had several other inmates come forward. With their help, the names of eight Corrections Officers were gathered, and they`re now being charged with drug use and improper sexual misconduct. Four of the officers have resigned, and a determination hearing is scheduled for this Friday at 10:30 to detrmine if there is sufficient documentation to take disciplinary action. The sherriff says the sexual misconduct was "not forced" on any of the female inmates, however officials say it`s still inappropriate, and they will not tollerate a situation like this one. WDHN will keep you updated on this story as it unfolds.
