Carpet Care

A vacuum is great for giving your carpets a basic cleaning, but for a deeper cleaning, you’ll need to use a steam cleaner and a few other carpet products.

Hoover makes a wide variety of products that are designed for superior cleaning performance.

The vacuum that Teresa used in this segment was a Hoover SteamVac Agility model. Its numerous features include a Clean Surge button, removable side-by-side tanks, and five removable SpinScrub™ brushes. Other highlights of the Agility are a removable tool caddy complete with a powered hand tool, a twenty-four-foot cord, and a folding handle.

There are many advantages to deep cleaning, especially if there’s anyone in the home that suffers from allergies. Deep cleaning with a steam cleaner removes allergens caused by dust mites and their feces and can greatly improve symptoms of those allergic to them.

Another benefit of deep cleaners is for pet owners. Pet ownership is at an all-time high with over 62 million U.S. households in 2002. This is a 23% growth rate since 1998 when it was 52 million. Steam cleaning can take care of accidents, odor, and dander left behind by pets. Hoover also offers a Premium Pet Detergent (used in the machine), as well as a Pet Stain & Odor Remover, which is a ready-to-use trigger spray product that contains active odor-fighting enzymes to tackle tough pet accidents and dander. The company recommends that this product be sprayed over heavy traffic and trouble areas before tackling it with a steam cleaner.

Owning a steam cleaner is more affordable than renting one. The typical carpet cleaning service charges over $200 for each cleaning, yet you can own a steam cleaner for the same price and use it for years.

Another reason to own a deep cleaner is to extend the life of the carpets. Hoover’s Deep Cleaning Detergents and trigger spot removers all contain FIBERCOAT™, a dye-site blocker to protect carpet fibers with a stain-fighting coating. This helps keep spots and spills from becoming stains.

The final step in Hoover’s three step process is adding protection to the carpet when you are done deep cleaning. Normal foot traffic and accidents wear down your carpet’s original, mill-applied protection and one of the best things you can do for your carpet is to add protection back to it. Hoover’s Carpet & Upholstery Protectant does that by adding a patented siloxane copolymer – called WEARGARD™ - that coats the fibers so they resist dirt and soil, and stay cleaner longer.
