Officials are demanding some answers involving the Personnel Board`s ongoing investigation and issues surrounding city equipment.
The Commission asked City Manager Jerry Corbin, to issue a report in two weeks about where the city stands in the investigation and other matters as well.
Corbin is now in the process of investigating who may have authorized credit checks on certain city employees, as was alleged in the Personnel Board`s report to the Citizens Supervisory Committee.
Also of concern, were some recent messages sent out over city pagers criticizing John Collier, Mayor Sowell and others. They are trying to safeguard the system from hackers and find out who has been sending those unwelcomed pages.
Also discussed at yesterdays meeting, where to place nine emergency sirens related to Homeland Security.
For several weeks now, the city, county and EMA office have been trying to hash out where those sirens should be located. Commissioner James Redding has been fighting for one of the units to be put on the northside of town in his district, and one at the Peanut Festival Fairgrounds. Commissioner Redding says that it makes sense since some 60-thousand people converge on the fairgrounds every November. He feels this makes it Dothan`s only soft target vunerable to terrorism.
The Department of Homeland Security recently awarded E-M-A a total of one hundred and fifty thousand dollars for the siren project.
