This week the tough task of picking up the pieces of Hurricane Charley begins. Many here in Alabama are doing their part in assisting with the clean-up effort.
Govenor Riley has authorized the state to send three blackhawk helicopters from the Alabama National Guard down to Florida, along with a ten-person emergency response team.
In addition, Alabama Power has been contacted by three Florida utility companies along the storm`s track, asking that emergency crews be sent in to help, and many state organizations including the Salvation Army, which offered up five units, have sent volunteers down to Florida as well.
The Salvation Army asks that anyone willing to make a financial contribution to the clean-up effort, do so by either logging onto their website, www.salvationarmyusa.org, or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
