Plans to expand the circle city`s busiest roadway are still in the works. The future widening of Ross Clark Circle was a hot topic at Tuesday`s City Commission Meeting.
Last week, the mayor and city manager met with local highway directors to discuss the city taking over complete responsibility for improvements to the circle. The project is desperately needed as a growing population is leading to more and more congestion.
The city also is concerned about the maintenance of roads and lawns around the circle, and they`re asking the Department of Transporation to help in the matter.
Construction plans are not on the immediate agenda as the city has to go through the State Legislature to finalize the proposed project.
Mayor Sowell says it will be up to five years before any roadwork actually gets completed.
