Updated: January 7, 2009
Only two weeks after Houston County Commissioner Wylie Yvelerton announced his retirement, one candidate is tossing his hat in the ring to fill the open seat. Houston County resident Tom Stealy is saying he wants to be next in line to represent District One. There has been some question in recent weeks over how the county would move to fill a vacancy on the board...now it appears the matter will go before voters in a January election. Stealy says he has a lot to offer residents of Houston County. Stealy says he is "not" a politician...but feels qualified for the job because of his interest in District One and Houston County. He has been attending the Commission`s Meetings for the last three years.
