New evidence has emerged in the public corruption trial of former Governor Don Siegelman. Federal prosecutors have filed motions, alledging Siegelman and former Chief of Staff Paul Hamrick, took cash and gifts from businesses, in exchange for their help with state issues.
Siegelman is accused of taking more than 25-thousand dollars worth of gifts, including a 9-thousand dollar Honda Motorcycle, and an off-road four-wheeler and trailer worth more than 45-hundred dollars.
The court filing doesn`t state what, if anything, the two did for the business owners, who were not identified.
Prosecutors say the evidence will be used in the criminal case against Siegelman and Hamrick, along with a Tuscaloosa physician..all of whom are charged with attempted to manipulate a madicaid contract. Stay tuned to WDHN New 18 for future story updates!
