For the past three years an expansion project to widen two lane portions of Westgate Parkway, both on the north side toward Harrison Road and south side of Honeysuckle Parkway, has been a struggle for the city to complete...a multi-million dollar project waiting in the wings. There is some controversy about who should do the work. Commissioner Jason Rudd says the process has taken too long and the city should cut the middle man and finish the job on their own. To do this, the city must acquire a number of propertities from landowners. Subcontractors are requesting that the city put up another 45 thousand dollars for 30 properties, some of which will have to go through condemnation proceedings in Probate Court.
The Commission is expected to make a decision on who will complete the project at next week`s Commission Meeting.
