Local third graders have chosen to give gifts to needy families instead of receive them theirselves. Not many eight and nine year olds would choose to pass up a gift in order to hlep out htose who are less fortuante, but third graders at Ashford Elementary School did just that. The class took a vote and decided the majority wanted to donate sanck money to help buy food and gifts for a needy family. They were also allowed to bring in toys and clothes. "Well...you have to remember Jesus was really nice and he gave everything to pople so we decided that it would make us feel even better than getting gifts to donate," says Caroline Crowley, student. Students intended to help out one needy family, but they donated and raised approximatley one thousand dollars, which allowed them to help out three families in need. JANA JACOBS-REPORTER WDHN 18
