It`s better to give than receive...That`s the lesson fifth graders at Daleville Middle School learned this holiday season.
"We`ve been bringing in presents to give to a family that doesnt have much," says Christopher Rendon.
The idea was sparked from a story they read called, "Justin Lebo,".
"Our teacher was reading a story about people helping out other kids and so we decided to, too," says Chasitidy Henderson.
So the students decided to pull together and help out a local family in need. Three children and a single mother will now have food to eat and gifts under the tree, thanks to the thoughtfulness of one class.
"I think it makes us feel like we`re doing our part in the community and we`re helping people get what they need," says Henderson.
For many fo these students, it was their first time to give to another family besides their own and they hope to carry on the tradition for many years.
"I think it`s good to give to a family that doesn`t have much," says Rendon.
Three weeks ago, it was only an idea, but that one idea has turned into a huge success, and thanks to them, one family will have a very Merry Christmas.
