"She`s really sweet an dnice to us and she helps us learn alot about stuff I don`t know," says second grader Kendall Newton. That`s exactly why Selma Street Elementary School teacher, Carol Ethridge, is this week`s "Golden Apple Award" winner. She`s been teachign for 16 years and has taught kindergarden through second grade, but says teaching second grade is her favorite. "It`s my favorite grade to teach. They learn alot in Math, they read really well, do a lot of Science and Social Studies," says Ethridge. Ethridge says she has always loved being around children and enjoys her job because she likes watching them grow an dlearn throughout the year. "Being in teaching gvies me the opportunity to get to know so many students and their parents and I just like to watch the progress they make throughout the year,". Students think she is a great teacher and believe her award was well deserved. "She`s very nice and she is very smart and she teaches us alot," says Troy Dawson. "She teaches us our capitols and everything we need to learn. She`s a great teacher," says Shacora Jackson. She only has one year to make an impact on her students and when she sees them take that part of her with them, it makes her job all worth while. Congratulations Ms. Ethridge! You are this week`s "Golden Apple Award" winner! JANA JACOBS-REPORTER WDHN 18
