Dothan Police Captain Jim Smith has been placed on adminstrative leave. Chief John White is refusing any comment on the situation but WDHN News 18 has learned that White believes Smith wrote a series of letters to public officials critical of White and members of his adminstration. Sources say Smith also failed polygraph tests adminstered in connection with an internal police investigation. Smith has refused comment on the advice of his lawyer but did tell WDHN News 18 he did not pen the letters. Smith is represented by Dothan attorney Ernie Hornsby who says the next step in the process will be to hold a determination hearing. That hearing will most likely be held next week.
