WALLACE COMMUNITY COLLEGE GETS BIGGER

Updated: January 7, 2009
It doesn`t have a name just yet, but it won`t take long before it will. This building will soon become part of Wallace Community College. "We saw a need to get closer, it puts us mainstream and closer to serve the needs of the community," says Lynn Bell, Dean of Business Affairs. Lynn Bell is the Dean of Business Affairs for the college and says "Adult Education" "Workforce Development", and "Community Education" programs will all be offered both day and night in this building. "The college serves the community by adult education classes. We have numbers come back for training and we help them better their education." says Bell. Wallace Community College has done a lot of work to make this building look brand new, however it`s been here a long time and has served a lot of purposes. In fact, it started out as a fitness center, complete with weights and racquetball courts and then it later turned into a bar. "We have completely gutted the inside, where the racquetball courts were, we now have classrooms," says Bell. It`s only taken six months to completely rennovate the building and officials say they are excited about the future. "This allows us to move some programs on the main campus to a site closer to the community," says Bell. JANA JACOBS-REPORTER WDHN 18
