Whether you use natural gas, propane, oil or electricity, the cost to keep warm during the winter months can be expensive if you are not careful.
Southeast Alabama Gas District Service Representative says "bills usually go up. People use more heat,which cost more money,".
Its not unusual for ones utility bill to rise during the winter, however there are some tips to help you conserve energy.
It`s just doing simple routines. Keep your filters clean, clean your furnace, use natural light as much as possible.
Rogers says he stays extremely busy at this time of year.
"We are about a day and a half behind schedule right now. Dont wait for it to get cold to call us. We need to come early, that way if there is a problem we can go ahead and get it fixed," says Rogers.
How you adjust your thermostat can help cut down on costs.
"Lowering your thermostat five degrees when you go to sleep or leave your home will help," says Rogers.
Using more natural light is another way to help warm your home without much of an expense. Rogers also suggested changing filters in heating and cooling units at least twice a year, as well as removing dust and lint from outlets.
Following these tips will keep your home warm this winter without leaving your pocketbook cold.
