breaking news
School libraries in Alabama are not alone in their recent budget restrictions from the state. Public libraries will also feel the effects of tighter funds, especially now that students may not have access to certain items in their school libraries.
The extra influx of patrons might cause some problems at Houston-Love Memorial Library, whose state funding was recently cut by 10 percent.
Houston-Love Memorial Library is funded locally and though the state. The state money comes from the Alabama Public Library Service which is funded through the Special Education Trust. Due to cuts, fees for late books and lost cards may increase and shorter hours of operation may go into effect. Overall there may soon be fees associated with items that are now free.
