NO NEW BOOKS FOR STUDENTS

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
With no new money for library enhancement this year, schools may not be able to replace worn or lost books, buy any new books or renew periodical subscriptions that students need to stay up with the times. In previous years schools have pulled the money needed for libraries from other sources, but with a tight budget this year and an even tighter one next year, there may be no other venues to pull from. School libraries in Alabama have had to deal with lack of funding for a few years now; its been the resourcefulness of librarians that have kept the centers afloat. But now more and more the affects of having no money are starting to show. For now, schools will continue to try and make due with whats available and hope that students dont fall too far behind.
