Should you "winterize" your car?

Cooler temperatures are here and a lot of people say they are ready..but what about your car? Is it? Joe Gibbons, owner of West Main Car Care, says there are three specific areas to check: the cooling system, battery and the belt. Gibbons says it must be extremely cold in order to cause your cooling system to freeze. Most batteries are "maintenance free", which allows checking only periodically. The most important of the three is the "serpatine belt". Dry and brittle weather can cause the belt to crack. Most cars require service every 3,000 miles. Reputable car service stations check these parts during a normal checkup. Be sure to get your car serviced regularly, that way no one is left out in the cold. JANA JACOBS-REPORTER WDHN
