The fate of Emmanuel Gissendanner is now in the hands of a Dale County Circuit judge. The 27-year old Gissendanner was convicted over the weekend of the murder of Margaret Snellgrove. Testimony indicated that Gissendanner was seen driving the victim`s car shortly after her disappearence though he claimed during testimony that he rented the car from someone he knew only as "Buster". Ms. Snellgrove`s body was later found in a ravine near her home. The Dale County jury that convicted Gissendanner later recommended the death penalty but, under Alabama law, the judge can either abide by the recommendation or impose a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
