A late afternoon thunderstorm Wednesday caused some minor damage in downtown and western areas of the city. The storm, packing a wind punch and frequent lightning, struck during afternoon rush hour. Dothan firefighters responded to three reports of lightning striking houses but the damage was minimal. A downed tree on South Park Avenue partially shut down the roadway while workers removed the debris. No injuries were reported as a result of the thunderstorm.
