Nexstar Broadcasting Group took over ownership of WDHN Friday, August 1st. The company has been operating the station since February under an agreement approved by the FCC. Nexstar Broadcasting Group, a Dallas, Texas-based corporation, bought WDHN (ABC), Dothan and KARK (NBC), Little Rock from Morris Multimedia which had owned both stations since the mid-1980`s. Nexstar Broadcasting Group is one of the fastest growing media companies in the country. However, the company stresses that all its properties are operated at the local level. "That certainly is the case in Dothan", according to WDHN Vice-President and General Manager Mike Smith. Smith continued "Nexstar has made a major commitment to the local community and plans to expand its presence in the community, increase its news product, and take a pro-active approach in all areas". Smith, who was named to his post in late May, is in charge of all day to day operations of WDHN. www.nexstar.tv
