Updated: January 7, 2009
The Coalition For A Smoke-Free Houston County held a meeting Tuesday evening (7/29) to give city officials a chance to hear input regarding a smoking ban in food establishments. Commissioners stressed they were only present to listen to citizen`s feelings on the controversial issue but those same commissioners are expected to consider such a resolution later this year. Most of those present supported a smoking ban while only a couple expressed opposition to the idea. Many cities in the state have already implemented a smoking ban and, recently in Florida, a ban went into effect that prohibits lighting up in any enclosed area.
