Almost $70-million has been earmarked for a program that prepares junior and senior high girls in five Wiregrass counties for the workplace. The program, sponsored by Girls Incorporated of Dothan, provides career development, workplace experience, and skills training for at-risk girls in Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston Counties. The program is offered at participating high schools and in state-licensed group homes for girls, ages 14-19. Governor Bob Riley awarded the grant from funds made available to the state through a program of the U-S Department of Labor.
