A well-known Dothan businessman and community leader has been arrested on prostitution charges. Hugh Ward "Trip" Wheelless, 41, was taken into custody at a hotel where he is accused of going to have sex in exchange for money.

Sources familiar with the investigation say Wheelless was one of several people nabbed Tuesday as the result of a police sting.  The booking report from the city jail shows nine people, including Wheeless, were charged with Prostitution 3rd degree, a misdemeanor. If convicted, they could be sentenced to jail but would likely face only a fine.

Those arrested are alleged to have responded to an online posting from a person they believed to be a woman desiring to have sex for money.  The specific details have not been released at this time.  However, WDHN has requested a copy of the arrest report regarding the incident.

Others arrested:

- Nasser Bader Alomaim, 28, of Fort Rucker.

- Dexter Tyrone Parks, 41, of West Selma Street, Dothan.

- Donald Lee Dean, 27, of Ladd Street, Enterprise.

- Hetalkumar Navinc Shah, 37, of Ross Clark Circle, Dothan.

- Camren Keith Kirkland, 22, of Louise Walden Court, Midland City.

- Timothy John Pfaff, 30, of Madison, S.D.

- Lewis Jerrod Thompson, 27, of Emma Avenue, Ozark.

- Ronald Joseph Lawrence, 25, of County Road 203, Slocomb.
