Mr. Lenard W. Mims of Geneva passed away on March 6, 2013. He was 84. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Danny Musick officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Mims was born in Geneva County on March 1, 1929 to the late Dan Mims and Lecia Loraine Mims. Mr. Mims was a member of Geneva Church of God. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Geneva Dixie Dandy, Claud & Effies Supermarket, Samson IGA and the Geneva Cotton Mill. In his pastime he really loved fishing. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Mims.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Dollie Mims of Geneva; daughter, Cathy Teachnor (John) of Denver, CO; grandson, Todd Teachnor of Opp; five sisters, Retha Ellenburg of Geneva, Blanch Brock of Pensacola, FL, Dahlia Clark of Pace, FL, Bama Thomas (Lenard) of New Hope, FL and Willene Boyd (Gary) of Geneva; brother, R.V. Mims (Mary) of Clearwater, FL and several nieces and nephews.
