ISO Rating Helps Homeowners

Home owners in Enterprise will continue to have cheaper home insurance payments thanks to the work of the city's first responders.
This is a result of a good rating given by the Insurance Services Offices, or the ISO.
Each city is evaluated and given ISO scores ranging from one to ten, with ten being the worst.
The last time the city was evaluated, it received a class three rating.
Nearly a decade later it has been able to keep that rating, which is an accomplishment only a few other cities in Alabama can brag about.
"There are only 48 fire departments in the state that are rated as a class three," said Fire Chief Byron Herring. "There are only 18 class two's and there aren't any class ones in the state. We feel honored."
50 percent of the rating comes from the fire department's evaluation, 40 percent is related to the water department, and ten percent to the city's communication center.
Insurance companies will use a city's ISO rating when figuring up homeowners' rates.
According to Mayor Kenneth Boswell, this is "a really big plus for our citizens. It saves utterly millions of dollars over a decade of time for those homeowners purchasing their insurance."
